Pastor, Grace Baptist Church
Dr. Max Fernandez was saved July 24, 1994 in Columbus, Georgia under the preaching of his youth pastor, Chris Hanks. After graduating high school, he attended the Crown College where he met his future wife, Catrina.
In September of 2000, Dr. Fernandez moved to Middletown, Ohio and became active in the youth ministries at Grace Baptist Church. During this time he finished his Bible diploma at the Grace Baptist Bible Institute, his bachelor’s degree in Theology at Slidell Baptist Seminary, and his graduate work through Crown College.
In 2004, Dr. Fernandez was asked to lead the youth. In 2008, Pastor Green asked Bro. Fernandez to assume the Associate Pastor role in addition to the youth pastorate. He and his wife Catrina have two children: Josiah and Joanna.
On April 14, 2013, Dr. Fernandez accepted the Pastorate and became the fifth Pastor in Grace Baptist Church’s history.
Mark Allen, Chairman
Retired Business Manager
Mark has been an MCS Foundation board member since it was established in 2001. Currently, he serves on the MCS school board. He attends Grace Baptist Church. He is the Director of GBC Missions, and he has served as a church officer. Mark also served on the Millennial Vision committee in 1998 and has participated in all phases of the school development.
Mark and his wife, Barb, have four children, all MCS Alumni.
As the Chairman, Mark has been guiding the Foundation with his passion, commitment and expertise.
Mark’s favorite verse is Psalm 119:8 “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.”
Phil Flannagan, Vice Chairman
Phil has been an MCS Foundation board member since it was established in 2001. He has served as MCSF Chairman, and currently, he serves on the MCS school board. He attends Grace Baptist Church, has served as a church officer, and teaches Sunday school.
Phil has a love for MCS as well as missions. While on mission trips, he loves to preach when given the opportunity.
He and his wife, Ann, serve in many ways at Grace.
Phil’s life verse is Proverbs 3:27, “Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.”
Jim Taube, Secretary
Senior Project Engineer, Patheon Inc.
Jim has been an MCS Foundation board member since 2010. He attends Grace Baptist Church, teaches Sunday school and has served as a church officer.
He and his wife, Sue, have four children, all MCS alumni. Three of their children are serving on foreign mission fields.
Jim’s favorite verse is Proverbs 16:3 “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Gary Lewis, Member
Senior Finance Manager, GE Aviation Composites Value Stream
Gary has been an MCS Foundation board member since 2010 and is also on the MCS school board. He attends Grace Baptist Church, serves as a deacon and in the youth department.
He and his wife, Teri, have two children. One is an alumnus of MCS, and the other is currently attending.
His favorite verse is II Timothy 2:4 “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. “
